Lab Technologist (Generalist)

Job Summary:
Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to Laboratory protocol and procedures. This position will rotate through Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and the Microbiology departments on the Overnight shift (11pm-7am). Working in collaboration with other highly skilled individuals to produce quality and timely Laboratory results for a Level II Trauma, 382 bed hospital. The Laboratory features state of the art automation including the Roche Diagnostics Cobas 6000's and Roche Modular Pre-Analytics in Chemistry, Beckman Coulter LH780's for Hematology, Stago Evolutions for Coagulation, Beckman Coulter Iris for Urinalysis, Immucor Echos for Blood Banking, Cepheid GeneXpert for Microbiology PCR testing, and the VersaTrek Blood Culture System. This position will also require experience with microscopic evaluations on peripheral blood smears, gram stains, CSF and Body Fluid counts and differentials. The Blood Bank also utilizes leading edge procedures for massive transfusions and rapid infusions for care of it's most critical patients. The Laboratory is well versed in continuous improvement opportunities using LEAN thinking, continually looking for ways to improve it's services for the care of it's patients.


Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in relevant Medical Lab/Clinical Lab science preferred.  Minimum of one (1) year clinical laboratory internship preferred.  At least an MLT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP Equivalent) is required. MT (ASCP) or MT Eligible (ASCP Equivalent) is preferred. Experience in all 4 lab specialities (Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology) preferred; minimum requirement of experience in 2-3 specialities with ability to train on others.
