EMS Instructor

Job Description Summary

Assists with the instruction and training of EMS Providers in accordance with OEMS, American Heart Association (AHA), National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) and National EMS Standards. Assignments may include, but not limited to skills laboratory supervision and instruction, and/or community-based field learning assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•    Instruction including hands on and classroom management,
•    Ensure students receive education as described by National Education Standards and scope of practice.
•    Provide feedback including documentation to students and faculty to assess student progress.
•    Utilize and care for equipment including return to storage area at completion of session.
•    Attend staff meetings and training as required.
•    Reports to the EMS Education Coordinator
•    Follow South Shore Hospital EMS policies and procedures.
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of 1 year prehospital experience within the last 3 years

Required Certifications

Nationally Certified or MA State certified at or above the level at which they are teaching

EMT Basic or EMT Advanced or EMT Paramedic

ACLS Instructor and BLS Instructor

Required additional Knowledge and Abilities

•    Must be knowledgeable in course content
•    Must be effective in teaching assigned skill stations
•    Be capable through academic preparation, training and experience to teach topics assigned
