Job Description Summary
The Education Program Coordinator (EPC) is the administrator and subject matter expert of the learning management system (LMS). The EPC collaborates with the SSH Nursing Professional Development team and other SSH leaders who request and oversee educational programs to deliver LMS learning. -The EPC acts as the AHA Program Coordinator (TCC). In this role the Education Program Coordinator functions as the liaison between the American Heart Association and SSH to maintain compliance with AHA programs and coordinate efforts, maintaining a positive relationship at all times.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Education Program Coordinator primary responsibilities encompass acting as the subject matter expert for the LMS for the health system. In this role configuring courses, automating reports, and leading effective utilization of the LMS are crucial to the position. The Education Program Coordinator prioritizes work based upon SSHs organizational mission, vision, and values. Additionally, the person in this role is acts as the American Heart Association Coordinator. They provide oversight for AHA programs (BLS and ACLS) including training center compliance and AHA affiliate instructors, associated policies, schedules, course materials, monitoring program initiatives, and maintaining appropriate records.
Education
• Oversees and maintains the lending library for AHA resource books
• Maintains department records
• Supports clinical and organizational initiatives in collaboration with the Nursing Professional Development team and other SSH leaders.
• Collaborates with Human Resources to develop, build, assign and monitor annual Mandatory Education modules for the Organization.
Finance/Budgeting
• Oversees supply purchases for the Nursing Professional Development Department
• Assists with managing department budget and anticipating AHA resource needs
• Ensures reimbursement from community partners for AHA costs such as electronic cards
• Deposits payments from community Instructors using the PassPort Onesource program.
Collaborative Relationships
• Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant to management of the LMS and AHA program
• Address common user issues and creates supportive materials for these topics
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with SSH colleagues at all levels including Information System partners
• Builds professional relationships with Nurses, Nurse Leaders, Providers, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve strategic goals and initiatives; considering divisional impact of education to system.
• Connects and maintains positive relationships with community liaisons who utilize SSH AHA Training Center privileges
• Conducts self in a professional, approachable manner at all times.
Technology
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS and AHA
• Manage user permissions in LMS
• Create tip sheets to support the end user (both leaders and frontline colleagues)
• Partners with SSH Information System colleagues to communicate about and enhance the LMS.
Leadership
• Plays an instrumental role in supporting the implementation of learning management system modules and program timing
• Guides the LMS module requestor through the request, testing process and reporting process.
• Acts as a process subject matter expert in development of mandatory education in conjunction with Human Resource leaders
• Mentors other AHA program leaders in standards and processes.
• Participates in and completes ad hoc projects as assigned for the department and organization.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues across the division to promote required and lifelong learning.
• Consistently prioritizing tasks effectively ensuring deadlines are met.
• Supports the ACNO of Professional Development and other key stakeholders during regulatory visits as a subject matter expert of LMS reports
• Exercises good judgment, discretion and diplomacy in communications
• Completes mandatory education on time
• Role models and encourages goal setting and lifelong learning.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education - Preferred
High school diploma, college degree preferred
Minimum Work Experience
A minimum of 1-3 years of progressive responsibility for a learning management system and advanced computer skills.
Required additional Knowledge and Abilities
• Proficient in typing (50-60 wpm).
• Ability to prioritize and reprioritize work in order to meet organizational and divisional goals and deadlines
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Comprehensive knowledge of learning management system (LMS) and its capabilities
• Working knowledge of organizational job roles
• Promotes and supports interprofessional relationships and collaboration with all SSH colleagues
• Possess a willingness to share insight to enhance the learning experience for all users
