Job Description Summary

The role of Employee Health Manager/ Nurse Practitioner is a critical position providing key services to our 6,000+ covered employees. This role requires an organized and proactive Nurse Practitioner leader, focused on improving the health, wellness and safety of our employees. The Employee Health Manager will work closely with Human Resources and nurse leaders to support the mission of the organization. The NP will be a progressive thinker with excellent communication and analytic skills and have the ability to build strong relationships within the organization. Under the general guidance of the executive director and in accordance with 244CMR 4.00 of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, the EHS Manager/Nurse Practitioner will evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with associated health conditions following written guidelines approved by the Department of Medicine.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities include: • Manage the annual employee flu program.  • Manage emergency preparedness and disaster planning related to Employee Health.  • Supervise EHS RNs and office manager. • Maintain regulatory documentation for employee incidents and maintain relationship with third party administrator. • Serve as a resource to managers and associates for occupational health. • Create reports and analyze data, identify KPI metrics and key cost drivers and opportunities to minimize time loss and reduce excess medical costs. • Assist in developing, updating and implementing policies and procedures for system.

Conduct pre-employment health assessments including urine drug screening, serology testing and vaccine administration• Provide appropriate care to employees injured in the workplace or work associated illness. • Provide appropriate medical care and case management recommendations for work-related injuries. • Manage Workers Compensation cases and provide guidance for employee return to work clearance. • Make recommendations to department managers and Human Resources on each case regarding safe placement of employees in the work setting. • Evaluate and treat blood/body fluid exposures. • Review medical documentation submitted regarding transitional duty/disability and requests for occupational accommodations. • Assure accuracy of data to meet regulatory requirements for OSHA, DPH, JCAHO, etc. reporting • Keep current on occupational health trends. • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and policies including OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Tuberculosis Risk Prevention in Healthcare Facilities, MASS DPH Isolation and Quarantine Guidelines, Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Act.

EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Masters Degree program. REQUIREMENTS: Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts. Five years of experience in Health System Occupational Health preferred. Department of Transportation Certified preferred. Certified Occupational Health Nurse - COHN preferred. Minimum of two years management experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in EXCEL and PowerPoint preferred.
