Job Description Summary

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB A physician assistant is defined as a person who is a graduate of a school approved by the AMA Board of Approval and Certification of Physician Assistant Programs, who may provide medical services appropriate to his/her training, experience and skills, under the supervision of a registered physician.

Essential Functions:

Category C - Competency in this position is dependent upon the patient population as the position does provide patient care and/or services. This position does require knowledge of disease processes or diagnosis.

Examples: Nurses, Clinical Managers, Pharmacists, Education Positions, Imaging Positions, CNSs & ACCs, Clinical Dieticians and Respiratory Therapists.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education - Preferred

A graduate of an AMA recognized Physician Assistant training program that is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission or Education for Physician Assistant (ACR-PA)

Required Licenses / Registrations

PA - Physician Assistant; Must possess a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant from the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Physician Assistants. Must also be certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants; if a recent graduate, must sit for exam and successfully pass it at the next time the examination is offered.

Required Certifications -

For ambulatory, we only require BLS; if in the hospital ACLS is required.

This position is a licensed independent practitioner credentialed through the Medical Staff Services Office

License, certifications, and classes will be monitored by the Medical Staff Services Department
