Ambulatory Services
As a Medical Assistant, you’ll help maintain efficiency of patient flow, greet all patients, take vital signs and provide a brief report to providers, while also assisting with routine and complex procedures and performing phlebotomy, as needed.
Clinical Nutrition
Our Clinical Dietitians have the opportunity to not only work in inpatient areas, but also in some of our specialty and outpatient areas, such as our Outpatient Cardiac Rehab, Diabetes Center and NICU.
Emergency Medical Services
South Shore Hospital has the only hospital-based Emergency Medical Services in the geographic area, so demand for our services is continually growing. Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics and Nursing Assistants work in the Emergency Department with providers, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to gain additional clinical knowledge and skills.
Home Health Services
Our trained, certified paraprofessionals assist Registered Nurses and Therapists in caring for patients at home. They provide direct home and personal care services for the sick and/or disabled according to the plan of care.
Imaging Services
Our 24/7 operation features state-of-the-art equipment, including a 128-slice CT scanner. With multiple locations, team members can work in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. We have growing vascular, neurology, general surgery and interventional radiology programs, one of the largest Breast Imaging Centers in the region and a dynamic and respected group of radiologists.
Inpatient Services
Nursing Assistants help with patient care and are responsible for the safe transport of patients, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. You may also serve as an observer for patients who require constant observation.
Laboratory
Our Lab Technologists or Technicians can begin working in one department (Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology), but once cross-trained can become a Lab Tech Generalist or Lead Lab Tech. Specimen Processors in school for Medical Lab Science have the opportunity, upon graduation, to advance to a Lab Tech role.
Pharmacy
Our Pharmacy staff has the opportunity to collaborate with Physicians and Nurses every day, and also gets involved in improving processes and expanding services. Here, you will find leading-edge practices and technology and opportunity for advancement.
Rehab Therapy
We offer a wide range of services and many specialties, including Pediatrics, Home Care, NICU, Aquatics, Lymphedema and Integrated Therapies. Positions include: Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Exercise Therapist and Rehabilitation Aide. You will enjoy strong interdisciplinary team collaboration, a focus on implementing evidence-based practice and a commitment to both staff and patient safety. And we encourage professional development through education, certification and specialization.
Respiratory Therapy
Recognized by the AARC for Quality Respiratory Care, our Respiratory Therapy Department has leading-edge technology and equipment. Our protocols are therapist-driven and our therapists enjoy clinical autonomy. We offer close interaction and mentoring for future Respiratory Therapists and staff resources that mirror those of academic medical centers.
Surgical Services
Perioperative Assistants are an integral part of our Operating Room team, assisting nursing staff with patient care including positioning, transfer of anesthetized patients and assisting with surgical prep. They are also responsible for the general maintenance of equipment, room and supplies. Surgical Technicians are part of our Birthing Unit and Main OR teams, performing technical skills and providing assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses and other professionals. Surgical Technicians are trained professionals who have completed a Surgical Technology program. Central Processing Specialists provide sterilization and decontamination of surgical instruments. They are critically important to the efficient daily operation of the Operating Rooms. Our department has supportive leadership, a collaborative environment and flexible scheduling.
